Choosing the right ice axe blade and maintaining it properly will ensure maximum climbing efficiency, depending on the chosen discipline or terrain. Winter climbing is currently not only alpinism or mixed routes; it is also extreme climbs in pure ice, dry tooling in rock, concrete and on artificial objects. Winter sport climbing has become a separate field, where blades and competitors must cope with holds made of steel, stone or cast iron.
Regardless of the type of climbing you do, remember that the guarantee of maintaining the properties of the blade is its proper maintenance and sharpening.
In our offer you will find a wide selection of blades that have been designed based on the specificity of applications.
The basic type of blade is the mixte blade. Its design allows climbing in any terrain; mountain, in ice, also sport climbing. However, if you decide to choose a blade dedicated to a specific terrain and discipline, check out our offer:
- ice blade - designed for climbing in easier ice and in the firn
- ice blade pro - for difficult/sensitive ice, crushes ice to a lesser extent, is easier to pull out
- alpine blade - designed for mountaineering, convenient when using an ice axe in a support position
- aggressive blade - more difficult dry tool climbing, greater angle of the blade and attack tooth, making it easier to maintain a grip in an overhang
- punk blade - a transitional form between an aggressive and a competition blade, will work well in a dry tool in the rock, as well as on artificial holds
- competition blade - designed mainly for climbing on artificial objects
- competition blade plus - has the properties of a competition blade and adds a few centimeters of range
